MAESWALTER BED AND BREAKFAST
BRYN MELYN SELF-CATERING HOLIDAY COTTAGE
Maeswalter is centrally located 9 miles south west of the town of Brecon
This non-working farm dates back to the 17th century and is situated in the mountainous Brecon Beacons National Park which divides naturally into three well-defined upland areas, the wild Black Mountains of the west, the gentler Black Mountain to the east and in the middle of South Wales the highest peaks the Brecon Beacons themselves Cribyn 562', Pen-y-Fan 886', Corn Du 873'.
Separating these last two ranges is the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, 33 miles of scenic waterway, perfect for boating, fishing and easy towpath walks. I am surrounded by breath taking scenery, a haven for wildlife, bird-watching Buzzard, Goshawk, Osprey, Red Kite, Siskins, Pied Flycatcher, Red Pole and the Red Start just to name a few. Many species nest in the grounds of Maeswalter.
I offer a warm and friendly welcome, comfortable beds and tastefully decorated en-suite and private facility rooms with beverage trays, Freesat t.v. hairdryers and panoramic views across the Senni Valley. Home cooking. Excellent touring, fishing, walking, pony trekking, hang-gliding, peace and quiet and an ideal place to unwind and relax in complete tranquillity.
In February 2013 The Brecon Beacons National Park has become only the fifth destination in the world to be granted prestigious International Dark Sky Reserve status.
The accreditation is awarded by the International Dark-Sky Association, based in the USA. International Dark Sky Reserves are areas recognised as possessing an exceptional or distinguished quality of starry nights and nocturnal environment specifically protected for scientific, natural, educational, cultural, heritage or public enjoyment.
